WHY
DESIGN A NEW FEEDER?
Method supremo and reining Sony World Carp Champion (Its his only claim to
fame so he likes Korda to quote it!) Tim Hodges had been on at Korda for
ages to design a method feeder not only because he felt what was on the
market already could be improved but also because none of the other
companies who make them could keep up with demand!
So after much persuasion Korda arranged a meeting with, Chris Rose, Steve
Spurgeon, Damian Clarke, Tim and Jason Cann at Great Linford lakes where Tim
runs the tackle shop. 6 heads are indeed better than one and after a couple
of hours of heated debate we ended up with a couple of plastic fins stuck in
a bit of plastercine with a tube running through the middle! This would set
the world alight, not! Tim's major criticism of all other carp feeders is
that your hookbait could potentially end up underneath the feeder when it
hits the bottom. Then when you start getting pulls on the rod tip and no
runs you start to think 'is the bait trapped underneath'.
Obviously if that stopped you catching the method would not be as
devastating as it is, the fish will roll the feeder around in an attempt to
get all the food off of it and the hookbait will eventually be exposed even
if it is trapped underneath to begin with. But what about making a feeder
where you knew 100 percent that your bait was available from the start,
sounds impossible but its not really that hard. All we had to do is weight
it on one side by making one of the 3 fins partially lead. Being lead
manufacturers this was not going to be as much of a problem as it would for
Korda's competitors. Korda took the 'design' back to the most important part
of the manufacturing team, Korda's mould makers. Fortunately for Korda Simon
is a gifted engineer who has always been able to turn some kind of
abomination into a work of art. This time he excelled himself once more and
the Bait Up method feeder was born. The features show why it is the best
method feeder ever made.
KORDA METHOD FEEDER SIZES 1.5oz (42 gm), 2oz (56 gm), and 3oz (84 gm)
KORDA METHOD RIGS + MIXES
Korda feeders have a unique bait shield which helps to hold on softer mixes,
and lots of nooks and crannies to cram the mix into so the carp have to feed
longer. Mixes can be as simple as scalded trout pellets or a combination of
anything you have ever caught a carp on. Use 50% of the mix trout pellets or
vitalin for binding. The closer the size of the hook bait is to the feed on
the feeder, the more bites you will get; maize, corn and small boilies are
ideal. Stick to bottom baits too. Always use some king of anti-tangle device
behind the lead like rig tube or lead core leaders. This stops the main line
lifting scales off the carp during the fight. For feeding at range, make one
of these sling shots from some Amnesia and a Drennan groundbait cup. Cast it
like a spod and watch the balls fly. For wary carp use long combi-links
outside the feeder so the hook bait looks like it has fallen off on impact,
and short braided links in the ball for hungry fish.
